Service Description

Supporting mental health using the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being for kids aged 10-13 years. Classes are evolved around a small group of people looking to enhance their mental well being. These are a great way to connect with yourself and others and are ideal as a maintenance program for your emotional health. Teaching children to use the creative arts to give "voice" to thoughts they cannot verbally express. Each session will start with a warm up, include activities which promote the processing of self-esteem, trauma, stress or anxiety and include opportunities to reflect. Children will be encouraged to: use problem solving, imagination and self-expression to build self-awareness; communicate thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgmental environment This program is a term course with each week building on the previous. Each session is different but typically incorporates: - a relaxation activity, - a chat about where you are at, - a creative activity which may include one or more of dance, music, clay, painting, drawing. - Reflection and discussion - Ideas/emotional tools to use between sessions ​Materials and equipment is provided. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little messy. It is important to stay hydrated so please bring your own water bottle.
