Always in my heart

After the first lock down, one of my daughters was particularly nervous about going back to school. We wanted to come up with an idea that would connect her with me during the day and help her manage the huge emotions that could overwhelm.

We wanted something she could hold but small enough to fit in her pocket. We came up with a rock. But not any rock.

We painted different coloured hearts on the front of the rock using posca pens.

If my daughter felt her emotions were starting to get away from her, she could take the rock out of her pocket and trace each heart with her finger while she focused on her breathing and knowing she is always in mummy's heart (with a gentle reminder written on the back).

We made one for her and one for her twin sister.
